Wood Bed
and Mattress Size
Everyone wants a bed that makes him comfortable. Knowing mattress sizes will help you design and make a quilt that fits the bed perfectly. For a start the standards vary around the world. Not only are the names of bed sizes sometimes different but even beds and mattresses with the same name can have different sizes. We're going to help you understand the sizes of beds on the market and how to decide which one is right for your needs.
If you own an extra-deep mattress, be aware of flat sheet sizes as well. Knowing standard
mattress sizes will
get you off to a good start when you design a quilt, but consider a few of the variables before you decide exactly how large the quilt should be.
There are several species about the beds, such as
Twin, Single, Double, Full, Queen. King, California King, Western King, and Eastern King
and so on.
Twin Bed is used to sleep for one person. When you are on the bed, you should put the mattress on it first. The question you care is whether the mattress suites your bed, for everyone wants his room looking beautiful and neat. The important thing you should do is to choose a proper mattress. Twin Mattress Size (Single): 39" x 75" ,long Twin Mattress Size: 39" x 80", Twin Extra Long: 39" x 80" Is generally used in college dorm rooms and is 5" longer than a standard twin Bedding may be harder to find and available only a limited variety of patterns. Most beds in college dorms have long twin mattresses.
Are you thinking about a Double, a Full, or a Queen size bed?
Double or Full beds are 15" wider than a Twin, but if two share the bed, each has only 27" of personal space, much less than a twin! The Mattress Size : 54" x 75" , Double 54" x 75" (also known as Full) . Double beds are only 15" wider than a Twin bed. a Double bed is only 75" long which may be too short for some adults. Any of these sizes fit in a normal room, but many couples feel that a Full or Double bed (they're the same thing) is definitely too narrow for anything more than an occasional night's sleep. They seek for a better way to solve it. There is a referenced solution for you to make use.
A Queen bed is 6" wider than a Double bed, allowing more room for each person, but still 9" less than a twin bed Though this extra width and length can make all the difference in getting a good night's sleep. The Queen Bed mattress size: 60" x 80". Queen Beds are 6" wider (and 5" longer) than a Double bed. These added inches can make all the difference in comfort, but each adult still has 9" less than the width of a standard Twin bed. A Queen bed works well for guest rooms and small master bedrooms and is a good choice for couples who like to snuggle. However, it's a good choice for guest rooms and smaller master bedrooms.
A
Standard King
is also called an Eastern King and a California King is also called a Western
King. King 76" x 80" Also known as Eastern King, King is about 16" wider than a
Queen bed. Both are about 80" long. The Eastern King is the only bed to give
each person the same width as a Twin bed. Standard King or Eastern King beds are
about 16" wider than a Queen bed and the same length. An Eastern King bed comes
with one mattress and two half-width box springs to be more manageable when
moving.
California King Bed mattress size: 72" x 84", California King is 12" wider than a Queen
bed but adds 4" in length. A California King size mattress is roomy in width for 2 adults. Also, it is the longest standard bed available at about 84", and is ample for much more taller people. All bedding is most expensive in king sizes. How in the world is anyone supposed to know the difference between all the beds on the market today? If you're making a quilt for yourself it's much easier to consider all the bed size "what ifs." Even the sales person in your local department store bed department might not really have all the facts. It can be very confusing! If the quilt is a gift, you can't be sure which bed size it will ultimately be used on, so consider making a quilt that would fit a queen mattress, the most popular bed size.
Bed Sizes
| Note: some
manufacturers are shaving inches off of these "standard" sizes.
Understand the exact size of the mattress you decide to purchase and how
fitted sheets may not fit correctly on non-standard sized mattresses. |
