All our pieces are hand-built by master using traditional Japanese carpentry and joinery. The pride they take in their work is reflected in the quality and beauty of the hand made furniture they produce. Japanese antique furniture features clean simple designs, natural wood grains, and the famed Japanese joinery. Each piece is constructed from solid wood beams and fitted with hand forged hardware.
Distinctly different from other oriental furniture, Japanese furniture embraces the core of Japanese design. Solid and utilitarian, its minimal ornamentation and asymmetrical design allow it to fit in with almost any door. Many of contemporary pieces allow you to choose your own hardware and stain.
Simple lines and clean designs that emphasize the beauty of the wood grains. It is full of exotic appeal. Like all Japanese furniture, the emphasis put on the raw power of natural materials. Hand-forged iron hardware and minimal ornamentation was common on drawer chests, while kitchen chests featured top and bottom extended beams.
Korean furniture depends on graceful proportions, skillful use of the natural features of wood, and a high level of craftsmanship for its beauty. It offers both highly decorative pieces with meticulously forged hardware, and minimalist pieces, made of solid, durable, woods.
Korean furniture pieces are all variations on a simple box with only necessary additions. Exotic woods such as persimmon and apollonian were used for inlays on more expensive pieces. Utilitarian chests such as the Rice Chest and the Grain Chest were found in traditional kitchens and would be built of thick pine wood for durability. Symbolism was prevalent in these pieces - auspicious signs such as turtles, cranes and butterflies were frequently used. Highly ornamental chests like the Head side Chest and the Blanket Chest were used in women's rooms and took on female qualities.
This way you can have the exact combination of styling you want when designing your living room. Most of our Japanese-inspired pieces are available in your choice of different stains and hardware.
